Get Your Partner On Board With Your Goals

We all know how valuable support is when it comes to staying on track and reaching our health & fitness goals. And that support starts with your partner or significant other. Now you may be thinking this is a narrative about how to get your partner to join a gym, but it’s not.

Fact is, you and your partner may have two different views on health & fitness and what your goals are. I’m here to talk about how to use communication to enhance your support at home.

Tip #1: Communicate Your Goals

If your home team just sees you go to the gym occasionally, but doesn’t know why you’re dedicating time, money, and effort – they may not understand your drive. Be honest and tell your partner how you feel about your current health & fitness and your end goal. This is the first step to gaining valuable support at home.

Tip #2: Practice Shareable Healthy Habits

We often see that partners not on the health & fitness wagon view healthy habits as hard, unnecessary, and even boring. But we know that not all healthy habits are boring. Maybe you take charge of dinner duties and show your partner how yummy healthy food can be. Or maybe you create a water drinking challenge to improve hydration levels. By practicing shareable healthy habits your partner will start to build some healthy habits of their own and enhance their support for your goals.

Tip #3: Communicate Your Workout Frequency Goal

We know at Bluprint Fitness that in order to decrease body fat, increase lean muscle, and improve performance, workout frequency needs to be at least 3 times a week. By communicating your frequency goal, you and your partner can work together to create a schedule that affords you time with each other and time for your workouts.

And if you remember only 1 thing from this blog, remember this: COMMUNICATION IS KEY.

Bluprint Fitness is a coaching program that helps busy professionals build the body and lifestyle they’re proud of year round.

And the program starts by building a strong support system inside and outside the gym.

Hope everyone is having a great week and GO WIN THE DAY!
