6 Things I’ve Learned In 6 Years

It’s Bluprint’s 6th birthday on Oct 23rd, 2020 and every year brings newfound knowledge, relationships, and you guessed it…GAINZ.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the most important things we’ve learned about health & fitness over the last 6 years.

Culture Is Queen

The traditional gym is made up of a mix of good and bad egos…and over the years, we’ve encountered it all. But by creating systems, communication, coaching, and programs centered around two main goals – Fun & Results – we’ve been privileged to build a culture that attracts rockstar personalities without toxic egos. This type of atmosphere is where coaches & athletes thrive. It makes working out fun, team-based, empowering, challenging, and invigorating. It builds lifelong friendships and life changing results. That’s what it’s all about!

Mindset Matters More Than You Think

You spend the MOST time with yourself. And by building a strong mindset, you’ll build a strong body. Positive affirmations are at the center of this mindset and should be the bulk of conversations with yourself. Of course there will be set-backs, of course there will be obstacles, but how you respond to adversity is what defines your character and your results. 

Results Are Relative

Wins are wins and they come in all different shades of Blu…did you get that? There are 1) habit based results, 2) performance results, 3) body composition results, and 4) mindset results just to name a few. The joy of being a coach is that we get to see ALL of these, even the ones athletes can’t see for themselves. Improved moods, decreased body fat, push-up GAINZ, barbell movements, sense of empowerment – the RESULTS of long-term consistency are plentiful so celebrate them!

Habits Are Earned

You might not always be motivated, so you must learn to be disciplined. And for most of us (including myself), building strong habits takes time and effort. Making conscious decision after decision that align with goals is where it starts, and making unconscious decision after decision that align with your goals is where it ends. And to do this without getting overwhelmed, it must be done one habit at a time – building your ideal lifestyle brick-by-brick. 

The Body Doesn’t Lie

You get exactly what you give when it comes to your health & fitness. If you’re consistent with your nutrition, fitness, and recovery – your body will tell you in the form of results at a faster rate. The body will also tell you when one of those aspects is falling behind. This usually manifests in the form of plateaus, minor injuries, and a lack of excitement when it comes to working out. So when things aren’t going the way you want, make an honest self-assessment of where improvements can be made to align better with your goals.

Showing Up Matters Most

Let’s face it, there’s no getting around being consistent. This has and always will be true. The more you show up over a long period of time, the more results you’ll earn. Shoutout to the Blucru who’ve reached the 1000 class mark: Dan aka “G.O.A.T.”, Maria aka “The Grind Never Stops”, Randall aka “Young Bull”, Ken aka “Kenbo Slice”, Ginna aka “G-baby”, and Toni aka “Tonayyyyy”.
