What are good results?

As a coach, I get the opportunity to answer this question often. In this particular circumstance I am referring to body fat loss. What are good results?

The complicated answer…It depends. Where did you start and where are you going?

The simple answer. Good results are results that are moving in the right direction. If you have a goal and your numbers show that you are moving closer towards this goal…those are good results. Good results are numbers that match your level of effort in fitness, sleep, recovery, stress, nutrition, hydration…

MYTH BUSTER

Some athletes believe that if you purchase a gym membership the results are a sure thing. That couldn’t be the furthest from the truth. That is like buying a car and expecting it to take you anywhere you want without putting any gas in it.

  • You have to give to get.
  • Make change to see change.

And just like with that car, you have to consistently put gas in it for it to continue to drive. As coaches, it’s our job to give you the tools you need to be successful. But ultimately, it comes down to you and the decisions you make in the 23 hours each day that we are not standing in front of you. Your results are YOUR responsibility.

THE OTHER 23 HOURS

Doing the fitness, for most people, is the easy part. If you show up, a coach tells you what to do…fitness done. Where the real results live is in what happens the rest of your day.

  • How do you talk to yourself about yourself?
  • How stressed are you?
  • How much sleep are you getting?
  • Does your nutrition reflect your goals?
  • How much water are you drinking?

The truth of the matter is…real long lasting results take time. Consistency and straight up grit most of that time.

START SMALL

I’m a true believer in starting small – slow and steady wins the race when it comes to a lifestyle change. With that being said, you still have to live and enjoy your life. Make small changes and build habits so the change is slow enough not to disrupt your entire life. Before you know it, you are making decisions that you never thought you would. This is where the magic happens.

Baby steps to big results.

Celebrate every success along the way and know there will always be setbacks. Jump back in the car, fill up the tank and just keep driving the dang speed limit. Trust the process, believe in yourself, and go EARN YOUR RESULTS.
