Rachel Adams – October 2020

How long have you been part of the BluCru?

I’ve been part of the BluCru for just over a year; my first class was 10/25/2019!

What is your biggest accomplishment at Bluprint?

There are so many things that Bluprint has given me the tools to tackle– I’ve lifted some heavy stuff and moved my body in ways I didn’t think I was capable of– but the biggest accomplishment for SURE is the fact that I have shown up for myself consistently. Before Bluprint I used “busy” as an excuse to not make time to do things I need and enjoy. I was sedentary, burnt out, prediabetic, and exhausted. But Bluprint has a structure and culture that helps me prioritize my needs, my health and FUN. This has had ripples across my life, beyond time at the gym. My stress is more manageable, my blood sugar and cholesterol are picture perfect, and I’m more successful in my personal and professional life because I feel physically and mentally healthy for maybe the first time in my adult life.

What keeps you coming back to Bluprint Fitness?

The obvious answer is the coaches, my fellow athletes, and coach Bacon– and they’re all one of the biggest factors, for sure– but really it’s that I do something I’m proud of every single time I am in the gym. It’s not always a personal best or hitting big numbers/high scores, either. Trying a new skill, facing a fear (hello, box jumps!), or just showing up even though I wanted to stay in bed are massive successes. Absolute magic happens when you give yourself a gold star before 7am 5 days a week. It’s addictive in a healthy way and each win builds on the next, driving you to come back the next day!

What is your favorite thing to do at BP Fitness?

I love partner workouts, and was so glad we figured out a way to safely bring them back into the programming during COVID. Not only is the built in rest nice (lol), but being able to cheer on a buddy and get cheered on while I am grinding is so fun. It feels like a party and it makes it easier to push yourself!

What would you tell someone considering joining?

Every athlete in the gym is rooting for you, and you absolutely can do this. Whether you’re the fittest of your life, or you’re getting off the couch for a first time in a long time (like I was!): Bluprint is for you. You belong here and we will all help you achieve your goals!

Also, the coaches will explain and demonstrate every movement to you in every class! You don’t have to know what you’re doing before you start. I’m the kind of person who needs to know how everything works before I get started, and my first few workouts I was super stressed because I didn’t understand what everything was. Totally no big deal! They walk you through every step and you will feel like an old pro in no time!

What do you do for fun?

I’m a proud plant mom and a newbie veggie gardener. I love to cook (my husband’s southern Grandma said I make the best biscuits she’s ever tasted!) and have done pottery since college, mostly functional objects in soda firings.

What’s your favorite food?

I could try to be fancy but, let’s be real, I’m a midwestern gal who grew up next to a trailer park. The best food in the world is the little triangle corner pieces on a thin crust, party-cut pepperoni pizza (the REAL Chicago-style pizza). Bonus points if it came from a bowling alley!

Coach Thoughts

If you don’t know Rachel – You Should…Talk about a super human. Rachel joined Bluprint in October 2019 so she is one year strong now! She is one of the most uplifting positive people and we are lucky to have her at Bluprint. She is a 6am regular and always brings the energy and celebrates fellow athlete’s successes like they are her own. This past month she committed to improving her push-ups and her front rack mobility to carry over into her weightlifting movements. Not to mention she is topping the charts for the SOGO Accountability Challenge focusing on her fitness, recovery, and nutrition! When you see her in the gym, make sure to congratulate her on all her hard work and dedication.
