How long have you been part of the BluCru?
I joined Bluprint in November of 2020!
What was the problem you were having before you discovered BluPrint?
I had CrossFit experience in the past, and unfortunately due to life and an injury in 2017, my motivation to workout waned away. When I moved to Chicago in October of 2020, I knew it was time for a change and had my heart set on finding the right box for me. I was seeking accountability and consistency in my daily life. Thankfully, Bluprint was the perfect decision.
Take us to the moment you realized what you were now doing was working.
I started to feel strong again, and more comfortable in my body as a whole. I look forward to going to the gym every day. My mentality about working out has shifted back into an athlete’s mindset and I am so grateful for that.
What is your biggest accomplishment at Bluprint?
Honestly, I have mastered different skills at this point, which I am very proud of, but in my opinion it’s my unwavering commitment to continue improving. Remaining humble and always being open to feedback.
What is your favorite thing to do at Bluprint?
Hang out with my friends! Seeing them work hard makes me want to work hard too. And getting out of my comfort zone on a weekly (sometimes even daily) basis.
What keeps you coming back to Bluprint?
The way our coaches educate not only on safe and proper form and function, but also holistic approaches to a healthy, balanced lifestyle was so eye opening for me. I have been so appreciative of the level of detail and attention our community provides. The environment itself just makes you want to be better.
What would you tell someone considering joining?
It’s the best decision you can make for yourself long term. You’ll only get out of it as much effort as you put into the experience, so jump right in! Every single person is welcoming and you won’t feel out of place.
What do you do for fun?
I love to cook, go for walks in the city and by the lake, paint, crochet. I also often hyper-analyze my form when coaches post videos on social media of our workouts (very normal of me to obsess, yes)
What’s your favorite food?
Arepas. Can and would eat them every day of my life.
Congratulations to Janet for earning August’s AOTM! Since joining Bluprint in November 2020, Janet has been a positive and uplifting addition to the Bluprint community. Whether she is brightening up the room at 6am or mingling with the 4:30pm class, she has been a pleasure to have in the gym.
She loves to work hard and learn as she challenges herself to improve her movements. Her favorite movement is the snatch but she makes time to crush new movements with practice like chest-2-floor push-ups and pistols. Not to mention, she recently PR’d her push press by 20+ pounds.
But her hard work doesn’t stop inside the gym – she makes it a point to focus on her nutrition outside the gym. She has lost 30 pounds and 13.7% body fat since joining Bluprint. Stats that ONLY come from hard work and dedication.
