Brose & Yuri – May 2021

Biography

How long have you been part of the BluCru?

Brose: A long time – I think I’m going on 5 years.

Yuri: About a year and a half.

What was the problem you were having before you discovered Bluprint?

Brose: Way before I ever joined Bluprint I worked out at a big box gym and always intended on staying active but would show up really inconsistently and when I got there I didn’t really know what I was doing. It was better than nothing but I wasn’t really getting any results. Later on I started training in MMA and realized that I’m a lot more consistent when I’m having fun and actually being coached. When I found Bluprint, it was like a dream. The community makes the workouts fun, the coaching ensures that we’re always moving forward, and I’m a lot more consistent now.

Yuri: I was always really active growing up but somewhere along the way I stopped and it didn’t feel good. Brose was already going to Bluprint and always tried to get me to sign up. I eventually said “sure I’ll try it out” and haven’t looked back.

Take us to the moment you realized what you were now doing was working.

Brose: There have been so many of those little moments over the past few years. I’ve PR’d every lift we’ve trained, picked up new skills like dubz, finished obstacle races with the team, and my clothes fit a lot better now. Every one of those milestones remind me that it’s working.

Yuri: When my friends all started talking about how nice my arms looked.

What is your biggest accomplishment at Bluprint?

Brose: Consistently being in the Committed Club is probably the biggest accomplishment. Everything I mentioned from hitting PRs to picking up new skills feels great but all of that stuff just seems to fall into place if you show up.

Yuri: Doing Murph with the team!

What is your favorite thing to do at Bluprint?

Brose: Right now it’s the Barbell Club. I love drilling the lifts and seeing/feeling the results. Otherwise I really enjoy workouts with more of a strength focus rather than the long endurance WODs.

Yuri: Lifting weights – anything with a barbell.

What keeps you coming back to Bluprint?

Brose: It’s an awesome combination of fun and therapeutic. There’s a strong social component because I get to see a bunch of friends, I’m being productive, and a hard workout can really help settle down my racing thoughts.

Yuri:  It’s so nice to not have to worry about figuring out what I’m going to do when I get there or whether there’s going to be enough equipment. The coaches are all so great and I have fun when I’m there.

What would you tell someone considering joining?

Brose: From the outside it can look intimidating but at least give it a shot. The community is super supportive and the coaching team is always looking for ways to challenge you without ever sacrificing safety.

Yuri: Just do it!

What do you do for fun?

Brose: Aside from working out, I’m kinda down for whatever as long as I’m with a cool crowd. I love going to concerts and music festivals, trying new restaurants, or whatever but I’m always down to stay in and watch a scary movie.

Yuri:  Hanging out with my family.

What’s your favorite food?

Brose: All time favorite food has to be rice. I’ll eat it for any meal with anything. Eggs over rice, rice and beans, chicken and rice, coconut rice as a side, rice pudding, I’ll eat rice any way I can get it.

Yuri: Wings or pasta.
