Biography

How long have you been part of the BluCru?

My first training camp class was 6/3/2019!

What is your biggest accomplishment at Bluprint?

Honestly, I’d say my biggest accomplishment is realizing that consistent small accomplishments lead to big things. I’ve learned to celebrate little wins that indicate my progress toward bigger goals, and that mindset makes everday training and practice—where the real foundations are laid—more rewarding. That same mindset has helped me achieve new PRs in the deadlift and Oly lifts, it’s helped me earn consistent double unders, and now it’s got me on the road to earning full pistols!

What keeps you coming back to Bluprint Fitness?

First and foremost, the community. The coaches are fully invested in the success of their athletes, and the athletes themselves are dedicated champions of all their peers. That creates an unmatched sense of empowerment for everyone. Plus, every aspect of programming is designed with purpose—by asking me to stay consistent, focus on form, and prioritize accessory work (along with mobilization and rest), BP programming has helped me achieve greater strength and skill than I maybe thought was once possible. And I come back because I want to discover all that my body can do when it’s strategically pushed to its limits.

What is your favorite thing to do at BP Fitness?

I mean, nothing beats a good chinwag at the end of any WOD.  But beyond that, I’d have to say that my favorite thing to do is come in on a Saturday morning, stretch and warm up longer than usual, and train my Oly lifts and accessory movements in the presence of my coaches, who are usually doing the same type of training on those mornings. I get the advantage of watching and learning from their movements, plus I often receive bonus coaching tips on my own movements!

What would you tell someone considering joining?

Forget every preconceived notion you have about CrossFit or strength training. Know that you absolutely have what it takes to do this work and take that first step, because this work is designed to meet you precisely where you’re at. This community won’t let you fail. If you’ll take a chance and commit yourself to staying consistent with Bluprint, you’ll transform not just your feelings about this type of training—you’ll transform yourself and your feelings about all that you can do.

What do you do for fun?

Other than go to Bluprint? I’m a wanderer—I love to play tourist in my home city, travel abroad, and find new places to trek/hike. Anything that puts me outdoors and in motion is exciting and energizing to me.

What’s your favorite food?

It’s hard for me to favorite anything, because I get bored easily. But I never get bored with coffee. Ever. I love the ritual of coffee and that first sip from a well-made cup. PB&J is pretty great, too (strawberry jelly, please), and so are bread and butter pickles. Everything else has gotta stay on rotation.
