Stephen Byrne – February 2021

Biography

How long have you been part of the BluCru?

Since October 2019 (1 Year, 5 Months)

What was the problem you were having before you discovered Bluprint?

I struggled with programming my own workouts effectively. More importantly, I lacked consistency and motivation. This stemmed from feeling defeated after trying, and failing, to recapture some semblance of fitness.

Take us to the moment you realized what you were now doing was working.

I injured my foot on a trip in February 2020, I used this as an excuse to slack off during the next few months. Around July 2020 I had a shift in mindset. I committed to showing up 5-6 times every week. After a few weeks, the workouts truly became the highlight of my day.

What is your biggest accomplishment at Bluprint?

Being part of the “committed club” for the past 7 months.

What is your favorite thing to do at Bluprint?

Anything that isn’t burpees. But seriously, racking up calories on the assault bike, cleans, and all S2OH movements.

What keeps you coming back to Bluprint?

Wrestling was my sport growing up and the environment mimics that in many ways. There is a collective commitment to continuous improvement and, through friendly competition, that progress is shared. Most importantly, there is a strong sense of community amongst all athletes.

What would you tell someone considering joining?

Regardless of your level of fitness, or experience, you will feel welcome. All of your accomplishments are celebrated by fellow athletes. And the coaching ensures that nobody gets left behind.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy hiking, camping, or anything outdoors as long as I pack my sunscreen.

What’s your favorite food?

PASTA.

Coach’s Comments

Congratulations to Stephen Byrne for being named AOTM! Stephen joined Bluprint back in October 2019 and has recently really hit his stride. Not only is he a super consistent 7pm-er, but he has added significant weight to his barbell since joining, developed his kipping pull-ups, and strict HSPU. Not to mention, his effort is always on display – and that consistent effort is what being part of the BluCru is all about. When you see him around the gym make sure to congratulate him on all his hard work and consistency!
