Biography

How long have you been part of the BluCru?

Two years and two months.

What was the problem you were having before you discovered Bluprint?

My main problem was that I had completely plateaued with my fitness both physically and mentally, and I had lost so much self-confidence that I felt uncomfortable in my own skin even going to my local gym and doing a 30-40 minute cycle of the usual free weights, machines and bench press. The frustration felt like a defeat. I was putting in work, but I wasn’t seeing the same results I had seen when I was younger, and I found myself sinking into a “why bother” mentality.

Take us to the moment you realized what you were now doing was working.

The first moment I realized I had achieved some tangible results was two months into my membership. Some of my buddies saw me for the first time in a while and were saying how “swole” I looked.

What is your biggest accomplishment at Bluprint?

A great thing about being a member at Bluprint is that the biggest accomplishment changes pretty frequently. I just hit a personal record for my deadlift, but in a few weeks, it could be something new!

What is your favorite thing to do at Bluprint?

My favorite thing to do at Bluprint is “Test Day” at the end of a lifting cycle, where we test how much weight we can move using that cycle’s barbell movement. It’s a great way to see my progress and experience the results of the past six weeks.

What keeps you coming back to Bluprint?

The community, the programming, and the challenge of a great WOD. The owners and coaches set a great tone that can be felt as soon as I walked in the door for the first time. The programs run on six-week cycles that rotate areas of focus between different lifting movements, gymnastic techniques and benchmark workouts. It’s never boring and I’ve seen real, tangible results at the end of every cycle so far. The workouts themselves range from moderately challenging to exhausting, and they are completely scalable based on how hard I want to go on any given day.

What would you tell someone considering joining?

I would tell anyone who is thinking about it to take the leap of faith and know that you’re signing up for more of a lifestyle and fitness overhaul than a casual gym membership. Be ready for a commitment that will pay dividends down the road in physical and mental health.

What do you do for fun?

I play guitar and sometimes sing in a few bands, I enjoy as much live music as I can, I hang out with my wife and rescue dog, and I play weekly team trivia with friends.

What’s your favorite food?

Chicago Tavern-Style Pizza, without a doubt.

Coach’s Comments

Shout out to D-Wade for securing AOTM. He joined Bluprint in October 2018 and has been a consistent friendly face in the gym ever since. He was one of the winners of the SOGO challenge taking home the 3-Month Unlimited membership, staying close to the top of the leaderboard for accountability tracking, losing 3.31% body fat, and making GAINZ. He PR-ed his Sumo DL and Traditional DL as well as fine-tuned his gymnastics movements including T2B, kipping pull-ups, and getting upside down! To top it off, D-Wade is a regular member of the monthly Committed Club and embodies what it means to be part of the Blucru.
