Chris Jessup – January 2022

Biography

How long have you been part of the BluCru?

I’ve been a part of the BluCru since September 16, 2021.

What was the problem you were having before you discovered Bluprint?

Before I discovered Bluprint, I was struggling with the outcomes of a few facial surgeries, three years-post left knee surgery, and nearly a year and a half into COVID-19. I stopped working out regularly after I blew out me knee and fell into a slump that was a mix of depression, social anxiety and shame about letting go of the healthier lifestyle I lived and loved. Adding to those internal issues was a new career path that had me traveling when I finally decided to make a change. I couldn’t find something that I thought would work with my schedule. When I finally found the courage to reach out to Bluprint, after months of considering it and even walking by the gym, Coach Byron was accommodating to my schedule, and we made the Baseline happen.

Take us to the moment you realized what you were now doing was working.

There are multiple moments where I realized what I was doing was working:

  • Realizing I’m excited to get up early each morning and workout with the 6am crowd
  • Noticing myself improve and get comfortable with overhead squats
  • Improved Split Jerks, double-unders and first toes to bar.

What is your biggest accomplishment at Bluprint?

My biggest accomplishment at Bluprint is my consistency and improved patience. I continue to make a real effort to get to the gym and get out of my head so that I continue learning, growing and moving. That consistency and focus on patience has impacted my gains at Bluprint, as well as my professional and personal life.

What is your favorite thing to do at Bluprint?
Aside from a sweaty, difficult and heavy lift (thinking squat or deadlift variations), I love interacting with and learning from coaches and other members. Every single gain and improvement I’ve made was wildly impacted by the BluCru.

What keeps you coming back to Bluprint?

I keep coming back to Bluprint for the community, support and healthy physical and mental gains built there.

What would you tell someone considering joining?

Bluprint is unlike any box, gym or studio I’ve been to. The coaches are as thoughtful, fun and supportive as they are knowledgeable. Members are fun, hardworking and encouraging. Culture and community is this place and sustains it. If you’re looking for a fun place to sweat and improve yourself while feeling like you’re a welcome player on an awesome team, consider Bluprint.

What do you do for fun?

For fun I like to cook and try new food, travel, go camping, kayak and do just about anything with my rescue puggle, Sherman.

What’s your favorite food?

My favorite food is just about anything with some spice. As a New Mexican, I’ll put Hatch chile on anything. Dried hatch chile flakes on pizza for the win.
