Biography

How long have you been a part of the BluCru?

Since April 2016

What is your biggest accomplishment at Bluprint?

My biggest accomplishment would have to be being consistent with some form of meal prepping for the past 9 months to make sure I’m getting fruits/veggies, a protein, and healthy carbs at every meal. (Shoutout to Janelle’s buckwheat pancake recipe). BP taught me the importance of balanced diets and moderation. And by doing so, I’ve noticed a positive impact in the gym. I realized that I wasn’t eating enough quality foods, and I was consistently hitting walls in my workouts. I also recently met a goal and did 50 kipping pull-ups and 100 strict push-ups for the hero workout MURPH, something I thought was impractical a year ago. (I had those buckwheat pancakes & blueberries the morning of Murph and I’m convinced those dirty little magical fluffy patties had a lot to do with it).

What keeps you coming back to Bluprint Fitness?

BP became a hobby, it’s something I WANT to do everyday. The people that go to BP make it a fun place to be. I would rather hang out with them than with my own family. Just kidding* (*depends on which family we’re talking about). Coach Bacon, the potlucks, beach outings, and baseball games are also something I really enjoy about BP.

What is your favorite thing to do at BP Fitness?

I really enjoy the long AMRAPs that have 4-6 different movements. You don’t realize that you’re exercising non-stop for 20-30 minutes because there are so many different movements to keep you entertained, and it gives you a well rounded workout. You tend to discover a new muscle the next day you never knew you had. I also enjoy doing rope climbs, double unders, pull-ups, handstand push-ups, and toes to bar. I’d highly recommend to anyone who also enjoys these movements to try a Skillz N Liftz class if another cycle comes around because it focuses on giving those skills some extra attention.

What would you tell someone considering joining?

A little over a year ago I was intimidated by the idea of gyms and new people. When I had memberships at various fitness centers I felt overwhelmed by the amount of equipment because I didn’t know where to start. I felt self-conscious about my body and I was afraid I was going to look awkward because I had no idea what I was doing. I simply wouldn’t go to the gym because I was afraid, and I was ultimately robbing myself of making any progress on my health or appearance. It was a vicious cycle until I gave an intro class at Bluprint a try. At BP you don’t have to be “hot” in order to fit in. You don’t have to be super strong or fast to participate in the classes. Everything about the programs are approachable and welcoming to all shapes and sizes. You don’t magically lose weight because you signed up at a gym that has 10 swimming pools, 1000 treadmills, and a Protein Bar in the lobby, but never go. You get progress by consistently getting in there and challenging yourself to do fun high intensity workouts in a non-judgemental and motivating atmosphere. For me that is BP fitness. And after a year of consistently going, I feel stronger, I’m seeing definition, my butt is getting cuter (ayyyy!) and I overall feel like a better me. I’m so glad I challenged my fear of fitness centers because BP is so much more than just a “gym”, it’s a lifestyle. If you also have any anxieties about gyms and not knowing where to start, this place is perfect for you because all you have to do is show up willing to give it your all, and the coaches will take it from there. Also, if you go to Bluprint and mention my bio at signup, you get 100% off the water fountains for life. #perks

What do you do for fun?

I like to play floor hockey, kickball, volleyball, and soccer. I also like to sculpt with polymer clay, paint, and do pretty much anything that is creative and hands-on so I can turn my mind off for a while.
